On March 1, 2019, the Gifhorn Local Court opened insolvency proceedings on the assets of Medite GmbH and appointed lawyer Dr. Immo Hamer v. Valtier as insolvency administrator. Attorney Dr. Hamer v. Valtier had already been acting as the preliminary insolvency administrator in the opening proceedings since 28.12.2018.

Medite GmbH was a company from the medical technology sector that had been in existence since the 1970s. The company is internationally positioned and, as a medium-sized group, was incorporated into an American parent company in 2013. Since 2017, the company has also been managed by US managing directors.

Thanks to the restructuring measures carried out by attorney Dr. Hamer v. Valtier during the insolvency proceedings, Medite GmbH no longer made any losses after the opening of insolvency proceedings. The further intensified restructuring measures in personnel, production and technical processes resulted in a continuous increase in monthly surpluses in the following months.

At the same time, the company was sold – as part of an internationally conducted investor process – in June 2019 to Medite Medical GmbH in the course of a transferable restructuring, behind which an international investor consortium stands.

Following the transfer of the business to Medite Medical GmbH on January 1, 2020, the company will continue to operate while retaining existing jobs and locations in Germany.
